The Demons watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-3 Mercy rule loss to Sunshine on Saturday.
The Demons struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time containing Sunshine giving up 15 hits and 4 free passes.
Godbold took the loss for the Demons, after fighting back from a 4-run first inning. He went four and two-thirds innings, not giving up a run after the first, allowing 4 hits and striking out two.
Sayers led the offense for Melbourne, with two hits including a solo home run in the first. Fittock had a double, Daniels and Scalzo had a single each.
