Melbourne got back on the winners list Sunday in a critical game against second placed Waverley, blowing out to an 8-0 lead in the 6th inning and eventually winning 8-3.
The Demons big 5th innings was the difference between the two sides, scoring five runs on a single by Neave, a Sac fly by Pickett and a double by Scalzo.
Smith led things off on the mound for the Demons, he surrendered zero runs over five innings on one hit, striking out five. From the pen, Bowen went 1.2 innings , with a couple of K’s, Godbold went 1.1 innings also with a couple of K’s and Jones worked through a couple of walks but kept his slate clean with a couple of K’s to finish.
Melbourne outhit Waverley seven hits to three, Daniels and Scalzo doing the most damage for the Demons with multiple hits each, McMahon, Jones, Neave picking up a hit each.
