Sayers was in the zone on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading the Demons to a 18-2 mercy rule result over Mulgrave
Sayers singled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth and rounded out his day singling in the sixth after lining out a frozen rope in his only other at bat in the first.
The turning point of the game was a seven run blow out in the fourth innings after singles to Smith, Scalzo, and Sayers, a walk by Jones, an error on a ball put in play by Pickett and a long double into the wind by Daniels.
Smith started out for the Demons on the mound, working quickly through 3 innings, only giving up a single hit, striking out two. Mitch Bowen threw a couple of innings in relief, Daniels and Neave closing out the game for a comfortable victory.
Offensively the Demons tallied a huge 20 hits over the 7 frames, Sayers 4 from 5, a brace of hits to Scalzo, Pickett, Neave, Daniels, Mitchell and Smith, singles to Bowen, Keyhoe, Fittock and Jones.
Another excellent defensive effort in the tough conditions by the Demons, with a clean slate defensively, they play Geelong at Melbourne Ballpark Tuesday night and will look to continue their league leading offense.
